Congratulations to our March Hot Mama of the Month, Kat McAdoo!

Make Me a Hot Mama Magazine announces its fourth Hot Mama of the Month, Kat McAdoo. Kat is a 34-year old mom of five children (four natural and one step-son). Her children range in age from 9 years old (a set of twins) to 16 years old.

Kat tells me her children are A/B honor roll students and all actively participate in extra-curricular activities in school, including basketball, wrestling, football and the marching band. “I am very proud of their achievements,” she says, “and I always make it to every sporting event, school program and other event that they are involved in. I know how important it is to them to look out there and see me smiling and encouraging them along the way!”

Her Knight in Shining Armor

Kat says she’s married to a “wonderfully supportive husband who works his cute little patootie off for all of us.” She says they’ve been married almost nine years and they have an awesome marriage. They never fight and they always talk to each other. “We’re like peas and carrots. We finish each others' sentences and enjoy all kinds of the same things.”

She says her husband is truly a Knight in Shining Armor and her savior. “He has molded me into a person who is even better now than ever before. Because of his support, undying love and dedication, wonderful attitude and warm heart, I have been able to achieve a good number of my personal and professional goals that I would never have even thought possible before he became a part of my life.”

Business Mentality

Kat operates her own business called Passions by Kat, which is a Passion Parties business in Greensboro, North Carolina. She says that with all the children they have, it’s difficult to work a regular 9-5 job. “There’s just too much at home to manage. Being a consultant for Passion Parties allows me flexibility with my schedule. I can earn as much income as I want to make, which comparably, is often more than I would be able to earn at a regular job that would require me to have daycare for my kids after school.” Aside from that, she says, she also enjoys it. “I've had so many clients tell me that after they had a party with me, they actually felt less inhibited and had more creativity in the bedroom and were so thankful to have booked their party with me. I get a bunch of repeat business because I am honest with my customers, and I take a very lighthearted, but educational, approach to my parties.”

She also owns her own related Ebay store called Kat’s This & That, where she sells brand name lingerie from Dreamgirl and Escante and other little goodies at super prices that are much less than other stores. She says she offers all her customers super fast shipping times.

“I have a very large client base that I have been building for the past three years diligently and have made a ton of new friends with both of these businesses,” she told me.

Kat is also working towards obtaining her Associate’s Degree in Web Technology from Guilford Technical Community College. She currently has a diploma in Medical and Office Systems Technology from Brookstone College of Business. Kat even builds her own web pages for her websites!

Losing a Father

Kat told me she lost her father in February to cancer. He was only 64 years old. She and her father were very close.

Kat says her father “always worked very, very hard to take care of his family and home. He usually had two jobs and was always building and gardening. He could fix anything! He was a carpenter, electrician, mechanic, welder, body repairman for cars, gardener, musician, etc.

She continues, saying, her father “always worked at least 60-80 hours a week and he always slept like a log...for about 4 hours at a time. He was just a busy bee, and I am sure that's where I get it from. He IS my hero, and I miss him more than I could ever explain. One of the neatest things about my husband is that he is so much like my dad that it's almost like he's still here. He does things so much like my dad, even down to how he sleeps and eats…it's kind of weird actually, but it is also very comforting to me,” she says.

Kat says her goal for this year is to create something in her yard that will pay homage to her father and his love for the outdoors and gardening. “It will also serve as a special memorial place for me to be when I feel I need to be close to my dad,” she says.

Personal Achievements & Future Goals

Kat told me that one of her proudest personal achievements has been in losing over 75 pounds that she had gained with her first child and never managed to lose, even after her twins were born. She says her twins weighed a miraculous 8 lb 3 oz and 6 lb 12 oz. when they were born and she managed to carry them to full term. She says she’s very proud of finally getting the weight off because it she is now healthier, physically and mentally. “I am much happier about my personal appearance and take more pride in how I look now than I ever did before,” she says.

Kat enjoys gardening and yard landscaping, reading, drawing, painting, web design, crochet, basketball, home improvement projects, welding, and carpentry. She told me that up until a few years ago, she was also the only girl she knew who was still splitting her own firewood Paul Bunyan style.

“I also want to write a book,” she says, “and I feel I can probably do that with little or no effort.”

Life Coaching

Kat says she’s a personal counselor to her children, husband and to all her family and friends. She says she even manages to counsel all her internet buddies, who span all the way to London, England. “I am THE go-to person when any one of them has a problem they can’t solve, or an issue they need to talk about,” she says. When they do what she tells them to do, things always work out for them. “And, when they don’t, they always ask, ‘why didn’t I listen to you?!” Her cousin told her she should become a life-coach. “I suppose that is another hat I can wear at some point in my life but, for now, I am coaching everyone I have time to!”

Make Me a Hot Mama Magazine is sure Kat will have no problem doing anything she puts her mind to. Congratulations, again, Kat, on being our March Hot Mama!
