They wash dirty socks, change endless diapers, and feed hungry mouths. Their shift doesn't end at five: duty calls 24/7, 365 days a year, 7 days a week. They don't get to go home at the end of the day and kick back on the couch, but you won't find them complaining. Who are these diaper wrangling divas, the mysterious masterminds of household chaos? Stay at home mothers.

This job would undeniably top the "most under appreciated career" list, but have you ever wondered what the true value of their selfless service is? $20,000 a year? $50,000? As it turns out, the hand that rocks the cradle is worth a pretty penny- a shocking $116, 805 a year, to be exact.* A recent study released by Salary.com, which calculated a stay at home mom's workplace value if she were compensated with money instead of smiles and love, highlighted the fiscal value of our nation's mothers. In fact, once the various jobs a stay at home mom performs in an average week are tallied and the countless hours of overtime are taken into account, this six figure salary actually seems low.
